1) What is the purpose of Greenville's Vistas Association?
"Greenville's Vistas" will focus on the decisions made, both in the past and in the future, by the Greenville Planning Commission and the Greenville County Council, that have an effect on the residents of Paris Mountain. Greenville's Vistas Association will address the concerns we all have or should have, about fire on the mountain, evacuation bottlenecks, especially impacting Stoneridge, as well as Altamont Forest and some of the newer developments on the mountain.
Additionally, we want to address the potential effects on the already congested automobile, motorcycle and bicycle traffic and general road safety that will be created by the additional traffic resulting from large blocks of new homes being proposed by developers.
And specifically, in Stoneridge, the potential of 80 more homes being planned by the developer with no thought for expanding the single entrance and exit to the community - already a safety hazard - and no requirement by the Planning Commission for additional access, despite the potential of 160 more cars on Old Altamont Ridge Road and Altamont Road.
2) What is the makeup of the Greenville's Vistas Association?
Greenville's Vistas Association will attempt to join forces with a number of other Greenville area groups with similar concerns. If you've been reading the newspapers over the course of the past several weeks, there is a gathering force of highly concerned citizens from all corners of the metropolitan area of Greenville who are frustrated and ready to stand up and be heard. The many examples of poor planning and the effects of these inappropriate decisions made by our county government, has the potential to negatively impact our daily lives, our property values and our safety.
3) What are the initial goals of Greenville's Vistas Association?
The initial step has been to file an appeal with the Greenville Planning Commission, on March 28, 2007. This appeal addresses the decision that the Planning Commission made on February 28, 2007 to allow Phase "E" in Stoneridge to proceed despite overwhelming evidence of the negative impact on Stoneridge as well as a host of misunderstandings held by the Planning Commission regarding their responsibilities under the existing regulations.
4) What if the appeal fails?
If this appeal fails, the Greenville's Vistas Association will follow the appropriate course, within the laws of South Carolina, to have the appeal heard at succeeding higher levels of authority.
5) What are the long term goals of Greenville's Vistas Association?
Greenville's Vistas Association will become an active force in all future decisions that will effect not only Paris Mountain, but our community at large.
